We have worked with our staff to evaluate our studio goals and needs based on our 30+ years experience and have created what we feel will offer the most complete and diverse team options. We are dedicated to growth and innovation without straying from our strong tradition of excellence.

Pre-team is intended for dancers who have excelled in our Recreational program. These dancers have been a part of recreational classes, Artistic Sparks or Pre-Team for one or more years and have shown appropriate class etiquette, excellent attendance, at home practice, they are great listeners, and are ready for the extra commitment of being on a team. Both parent and dancer are ready to explore the world of competitive dance. Dancers enjoy being on a team, performing, skills and friendships gained.

West coast Nationals troupe description
Our 2024-2025 Nationals team will attend a West Coast Competition. This Nationals team will also allow more flexibility for dancers who are on a High School Drill team AND want to be on Dance Impressions National Troupe. If we know your plans and goals in advance, we will do our best to make a schedule that works! Now is the time to be thinking about this option and start the conversation with us.

Dance Impression’s Nationals Troupe is offered for dancers ages 8 and older (by January 1, 2025) through audition only.

Dancers who wish to be considered for the Nationals Team should have an excellent attendance record, receive a positive recommendation by their current teachers, have excellent work ethic, be technically proficient, strong performers, and good teammates. They must have family support, the financial ability to fulfill the year, and have GRIT.

In order to be eligible to audition, your account must be current. Dancers may not audition if they have a past account balance that is not caught up. Dancers must have a minimum of 2 sides of their splits flat. Dancers must have excellent attendance this dance season. Dancers should have attended all of their classes at conventions and participated in the audition. Dancers must be confident, outgoing, strong performers and have excellent independent drive.

NATIONAL TROUPE is not for everyone. If your dancer is not quite ready for the time commitment and dedication for this experience, keep working! We will be forming a New York Nationals team in 2028. -
Team commitment is from the moment you are selected for the team, through July 2024. This West Coast Nationals team allows more flexibility for dancers who are on a High School Drill team AND want to be on Dance Impressions National Troupe than our NYC Nationals team. If we know your plans and goals in advance, we will do our best to make a schedule that works! Now is the time to be thinking about this option and start the conversation with us.
A high-level commitment is still required for each Nationals Troupe team member once selected to be on the team and the contract is signed.

Nationals years are unique in that each routine is organized of dancers that meet the most competitive age breakdown. Meaning, in the Mini Category the cumulative age of the dancers competing is 10.999. This will be the case for all of our routines in each age category. Dancers may compete in routines one year younger than their age division only.
Each full-time dancer will be guaranteed a minimum of 4 routines to compete at Nationals and could have more routines based on the needs of the studio and the willingness of the parent and dancer.Each part-time dance will compete a minimum of 2 routines at Nationals. Depending on the interest in the part-time nationals team, part-time dancers may have the opportunity to compete in more routines.
We will qualify all of our routines at a regional convention in Provo.
We will compete all of our routines at up to 2 additional local competitions and 1 additional convention.
As part of the Competitive Dance Program, dancers may choose to participate in extra training, performing and competing opportunities. Dancers may audition for multiple Troupes or one individual troupe depending on their wants and needs. Additional classes can be added to any team for a discounted cost when available. We are looking for dancers who have participated in a team experience and know the expectations of at home practice and will put their team first.

Competitive Contemporary is intended for dancers who enjoy the movement quality and expression of Contemporary dance with the added excitement and demands of competition. Dancers looking to grow and excel technically and in performance ability should add this secondary troupe to their curriculum. We are looking for dancers who have participated in a prior team experience and both parent and dancer know the expectations of competition, the requirement of at home practice, and will do the work. Weekly training includes Contemporary/team and ballet.

Does taking the stage to refine your performing skills excite and motivate you? Do you want to take advantage of every opportunity? This is your chance to “add a dance” so you can do more. This is not a training opportunity, just a performing opportunity for those wanting more opportunities and are willing to do the work.

By “adding a dance” you will be committing to learning choreography (either by video or in person), attend rehearsals (held on the weekend or evenings seasonally), and do at home practice to be prepared to take the stage.
